YHA
has adopted the ILM Level 3 Certificate as a standard for developing the
skills of all their new managers. Jane Manning, Head
of Training and Development said ""We welcomed the approach by SLH when they offered the programme through
Learn Direct. This enabled us to put a group of new managers and supervisors
who had expressed a preference for this style of learning, through the
course.
SLH were most accommodating - although they are based in Fareham, Hampshire they
were happy to deliver and support the YHA group by visiting our HQ in Derbyshire.
The tutorial support has been first class and has ensured 100% achievement
rate for the group. The participants and their line managers have all reported
benefits of learning how to manage their teams."

course has helped me to recognise that a team is a group of people with mixed abilities and that these abilities are pooled to achieve a common goal. I now appreciate that we have different personality types, which complement each other. We all have different strengths. I've become more interested in non-verbal communication and find myself observing this within my team. This is particularly useful in team briefs. I think that I am now giving off more positive messages through body language and tone of voice."
